Bar Admission Jason Bergeron joined Lewis King's Nashville office in March 2007. Mr. Bergeron works in the firm's education group, providing advice and representation to clients on matters including employment of licensed and classified employees, employee contracts, employee and student discipline, employee and student rights, special education and disability accommodation, first amendment issues, sexual harassment and civil rights litigation, desegregation, tort liability, school finance and taxation, and school construction. Mr. Bergeron also maintains a federal and state court litigation practice, defending school districts in areas including civil rights litigation, government tort liability, and IDEA/special education due process claims. Mr. Bergeron has provided seminars and presentations to education clients and officials on a number of topics, including IDEA compliance, student discipline, teacher evaluation and discipline, and employment discrimination. Mr. Bergeron also works in the firm's corporate practice group, providing advice to franchise restaurant clients regarding issues such as formation and entity choice, corporate organization, and employment matters. Mr. Bergeron also represents franchisee trade and purchasing associations, providing advice regarding distribution issues, contractual matters, and general corporate governance. Mr. Bergeron advises restaurant clients regarding business sales and purchases, including related real estate transactions and financing issues. Representative transactions include the sale of twenty-five franchise locations across two states. Mr. Bergeron earned his undergraduate degree in political science with a minor in Spanish from Vanderbilt University in 1999. Mr. Bergeron earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2003. Prior to joining Lewis King, Mr. Bergeron was an attorney with the Metropolitan Government of Nashville's Department of Law. A native of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Mr. Bergeron serves as a board member for Historic Nashville, which promotes historic preservation in Nashville. Mr. Bergeron has also served as a member of the Young Alumni Advisory Committee for the Vanderbilt National Commodore Club. |
