Leslie F. Bishop is responsible for all aspects of a general defense litigation practice, with an emphasis in worker’s compensation and employment law.  She has also served as lead counsel in a toxic exposure lawsuit which resulted in a defense verdict.

Ms. Bishop joined the firm from the Tennessee Department of Labor Workers' Compensation Division where she supervised the Knoxville Regional Office which covered nineteen counties.

She is a certified Mediator and has successfully mediated over 350 workers' compensation disputes. Ms. Bishop has been a speaker at workers' compensation seminars sponsored by lawyers as well as for employer sponsored seminars. Prior to her practice in the public sector, Ms. Bishop was in the private practice of law representing clients from individuals to banking institutions.

Representative Experience:

  • Developed in house policies and strategies for proper investigation and prevention of work place accidents.

  • Assisted in certification of drug free workplace thereby reducing workers compensation premiums for employers.

  • Successfully defended employers in workers compensation suits state wide.

  • Participant in over 1000 mediations with successful resolutions at all stages of litigation thereby reducing time and expense to employers.

  • Trained employers on how to avoid the “Bermuda triangle”:  workers compensation, FMLA, ADA.

  • Annual speaker at multiple seminars for human resource agents and safety personnel.

  • Defended local governments on GTLA claims.

Recently Ms. Bishop was appointed to serve as a member of the Governor’s Task Force charged with reform of worker’s compensation laws in the State of Tennessee.

Ms. Bishop received her B.S. from Tennessee Technological University in 1985 and her law degree in 1988 from the University of Memphis (formerly Memphis State University).
