Chris McCarty receives the President's Award from outgoing TBA YLD President Michelle Sellers.

Knoxville, Tennessee, June 29, 2009. Lewis, King, Krieg & Waldrop attorney Chris McCarty was among two attorneys awarded the Young Lawyers Division President’s Award for their work with the Wills for Heroes Committee.  Over the past year, the YLD Wills for Heroes Committee organized 13 legal clinics for first responders across the state of Tennessee.

Chris McCarty is an associate attorney in the Lewis King Knoxville office.  Mr. McCarty practices in the areas of employment law, education law, and general civil litigation. 

Mr. McCarty graduated with a History for Licensure degree from Maryville College in Maryville, Tennessee.  Following college, Mr. McCarty spent two-years teaching eighth grade United States’ history at Seymour Middle School in Seymour, Tennessee.

Mr. McCarty is a member of the Knoxville Bar Association, Barristers (Young Lawyer Section), and the Tennessee Bar Association.  In 2008, he served as the Vice Chair for Wills for Heroes in the TBA’s Young Lawyers’ Division and is a member of KBA’s Publications Committee.  In 2009, Mr. McCarty was appointed to serve on the board for the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division.

The Wills for Heroes is a national program that provides essential legal documents free of charge to our nation’s first responders, including wills, living wills, and powers of attorney.
